"SMR" Limited Edition Release
Volume 1, Issue 2 - "SMR"
With "SMR" we set out to keep the summer season alive for as long we could. We even released them late in the game so you can Hang-Ten all the way through the autumn and winter months.
The theme is inspired by the 60s cult classic, The Endless Summer, a quirky and strangely-beautiful documentary about two surfers who travel the world to hit locations during their summer season in search of the perfect wave. On the way they discover some fun characters and pristine surf spots, and they learn that "sometimes you're a day late, but sometimes you're six months late."
We also draw inspiration from the iconic movie poster for the film. John Van Hamersveld, the Baltimore artist who created the artwork, just so happened to be a surfer and friend of the film director, Bruce Brown. Chances are that even if you've never seen The Endless Summer, you've probably come across the art at some point. He's also known for a couple small album cover designs... The Magical Mystery Tour, Exile on Main Street, and Skeletons in the Closet, to name a few.
So, wax up those boards kids, I hear a swell is bringing in some set waves!
